While intense workout routines are only necessary when trying to lose as much weight as possible, it is a mistake not to maintain daily cardio exercise.  Burning off excess calories is the best way to lose weight and it is a key factor in keeping all the weight off permanently.  30 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical machine every morning is always a good practice as it keeps the body active thus, maintaining a faster metabolism.
